What is virtual primary care?
It’s the type of primary care we offer at Devoted Medical. It means you get your care through video visits and chat — all from the comfort of home. And it can address many common health needs, including preventive care, sick visits, long-term health conditions, and more.
What can I expect during a primary care visit with Devoted Medical?
The same things you’d expect from a face-to-face visit, just over video! You’ll talk with your provider about your health questions and concerns. Then, you’ll work together to create a care plan that’s personalized to your needs and goals.
What if I try Devoted Medical Primary Care and don’t like it?
That’s ok! You have access to Devoted Health’s network of in-person primary care providers. If you try virtual primary care and decide it’s not for you, you can always switch to an in-person provider.
How do I schedule a Devoted Medical Primary Care visit?

Do I need a phone or computer with a camera?
Yes. If you’re new to video visits, our team will get you set up and ready to go before your first appointment.
How much do Devoted Medical Primary Care visits cost?
They cost $0, just like all in-network primary care visits for Devoted Health members.
Can Devoted Medical Primary Care write prescriptions?
Yes, but we cannot currently prescribe controlled substances. This includes certain medications for pain (like oxycodone and percocet), sleep (like Ambien), anxiety (like Ativan, Xanax, and Valium), and ADHD (like Adderall and Ritalin).
If you need medications like these, Devoted Medical Primary Care probably isn’t the right fit for you.
What types of providers will I be able to see?
Most of our providers are nurse practitioners who specialize in primary care. They’re supported by doctors, medical assistants, pharmacists, and clinical associates.
Will Devoted Medical coordinate with my specialists?
Yes. Yes. And if we recommend that you see a specialist, our clinical associates will even help you find someone in your area
What if I need in-person care at some point?
If you discuss a concern with us and we recommend in-person care, our clinical associates will help you find someone in your area. If you’re unable to leave your home for care like this, Devoted Medical Primary Care may not be the best fit for you.
Will my information be private and secure?
Yes! Our video visits and all other virtual care follows HIPAA and other privacy laws to keep your information safe. We protect your health information the same way as if you were meeting with your doctor in person.
What happens after a virtual primary care visit?
After your visit, your provider will share a visit summary that includes any next steps you talked about during the visit.
How is Devoted Medical Primary Care different from Care OnDemand?
Devoted Medical Primary Care focuses on the whole picture of your health over the long term, including routine preventive care visits and help with managing long-term health issues.
Care OnDemand is a single visit to address an immediate, non-emergency health concern — like if you’re sick or injured.
So, DevotedMedical Primary Care is your primary care provider (PCP) and Care OnDemand is your 24/7 urgent care line. Best of all? They work well together to get you care whenever you need it.
